History
There is a rich history of California agriculture and winemaking evident at Boeger Winery. We have plenty of Gold Rush and prohibition era architecture and artifacts for you to explore while you visit.

GOLD RUSH HISTORY

Gold was discovered only 15 minutes from the winery in the town of Coloma by James Marshal. The subsequent rush to the foothills brought many miners and immigrants to the area. Boeger Winery sits on an 1850's ranch and winery homesteaded by the Fossati-Lombardo family. The original house, cellar, and distillary are still used today.

PROHIBITION

During the era of prohibition, the winery was allowed to continue to produce wine for the local churches and the Fossati-Lombardo family. If you look at the door to the tasting room you will see the Federal stamp that served as the license to distill during this time.

OPENING DAY FOR BOEGER WINERY 1974

Greg and Sue Boeger purchased the ranch in 1972. The old Fossati-Lombardo house was converted into a tasting room and was opened to the public in 1974. For over three decades the Boeger family has dedicated themselves to bringing you some of the Sierra Foothill's finest wines.
