100% New French oak barrels
Named after the neighboring Pino Grande wood mill, this vineyard sits at an elevation of 2900 feet on the eastern side of Apple Hill. Situated in a small bowl, this vineyard stays cooler than many surrounding areas, allowing us to grow Pinot Noir in an area usually associated with warmer varieties. Handpicked relatively late in the season, the vineyard is planted on decomposed granitic soils with 5 different varieties of Pinot Noir. Fermentation is conducted at relatively low temperatures in stainless steel tanks following a five day cold soak to maximize aromatic complexity. Following one year of barrel aging, the final blend is meticulously selected from individual barrels to produce the best blend possible. The 2014 vintage was awarded a 92 point rating and an “Editor’s Choice” award by Wine Enthusiast. Aging Potential – Drink now through 2020.
