DESCRIPTION

Obscure in California and long steeped in uncertain origins, Charbono is at once a mystery and a cult favorite. Originally from the Savoie region of France, but nearly extinct in Europe, Charbono has made its way to small pockets around the world; it is estimated that there are only around 100 acres planted in California. Inky in color, and characterized by deep, rich tannins, this grape produces rustic wines imbued with savory, earthy notes. Perfumed floral and herbal notes add an elegance to the nose.
